Katie's Take on Godly Living for "Teens"

Hi everyone!

Today, I read Romans 4 and it is talking about how we are justified by faith, not circumcision, or in other words, the law.

Romans 7:9 says "for I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died".

God gave us the law to show us that we needed a savior. It was always about our hearts, not about our actions. Everyone says that you have to tell people about the wrath of God, but when you tell people about the love of God they will want to do good because they will be motivated by love.

No one wants to be held in a relationship by fear that the other person will leave them or hurt them, but no one will ever want to leave a loving relationship. When you tell them God loves them no matter what, then they will serve God more by accident than they ever did on purpose.

Everyone knows when you get down to it, that they are not doing good and that is why everyone wants people to say what they are doing is okay. We shouldn't want to do good to make God love us, He already loves you more than you could ever know, but we should want to do good to share God's love with other people and to give praise back to God.

Serve God today because you love God, not because you are trying to get God to love you.
God will never put sickness on you or make anything bad happen to you either.

I know that for a fact, so don't worry about that!
  • God Never Wants Us Sick; Jesus never made anyone sick

           Hebrews 1:3
"who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person**, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high"

**(The NLV translates "the express image of His person" as: "The Son is as God is, in every way". Jesus is an exact copy of the Father. )**

  • Jesus only did what God did
          John 5:19
" Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner."

  • It was "good" for Him to heal; they were oppressed of the devil, not by God.

           Acts 10:38
"how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."

Hello everyone!

Today, I am going to start off writing about Romans 12:2 and when it says "be not conformed to this world". When it says 'conformed' it is the Greek word Suschematizo which means:

"to fashion alike, i.e. conform to the same pattern (figuratively):--conform to, fashion self according to
(Strongs Concordance G4964)".

When I hear that, I picture a mold that we are poured into: the world's mold or God's.

That is a choice we get to make.

When we are poured into God's mold, we are like Him but still ourselves, just more godly, but with the world's mold -- you can't even have one minute of freedom! Everywhere you look the world is sending you messages.

The only time you can escape is when you go somewhere where there are no tv or radios and just look at your self in the mirror of God's word.

I have heard the verse, 1 Peter 3:3, be explained as you can't do anything with your hair, or even wear a wedding ring, or make up, but you have to look at the

bigger picture.

The start of verse three is "whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning" then it lists all the stuff, but if you go on to verse four it finishes "but let it be the hidden man of the heart..."  It is not saying here that we can't wear pretty clothes and jewelry, and let me also point out that at the end of verse three it says "or the putting on or apparel" and even God clothed Adam and Eve so we have to wear clothes! And they might as well look good!!

If we look and read the whole thing it is just saying that we shouldn't just think about clothes and shoes, and don't get me wrong I like getting new clothes and shoes, but all He is telling us here is to not put anything, even stuff that we wear, in front of God, to make it an idol. Anything can be an idol, electronics, apparel, boys, and even the most innocent looking thing can become an idol, even music.

I don't know what your idol is, or even if you have one, but if it has more time with you than God does, (and I am not talking about your responsibilities)cut back on it.

As you cut back on it, the more you read God's word and spend time with Him, the more you will lean on God and less on the world. That will always be the better road.

Spend time with God today, and see that He loves you, and wants the best for you!

Today I am going to write about princes on white horses.

And I know what you think of when I say that! You see shining armor and a castle in the back ground!

Me too!

And I bet some or maybe a lot of you don't know that the Bible is where that most likely came from. In Revelation 19:11-16 it describes what Hollywood and every girl sees!

The difference is that we see our future husband but what we were meant to see is Jesus.

So we take the image that was supposed to be on Jesus' shoulders and put it on the men and guys around us and then when they are less than what we see and dream of we are disappointed.

I am not saying go and settle for just any guy off of the street and say 'well he's just not perfect' but what I want you to do is realize that the longing we have in us for that perfect guy coming to save us was meant to make us long for Jesus.

God made us to long for something more than ourselves and we all know that inside of us we feel that we need something more and that something more is Jesus.

Our knight on a white horse!

I still look forward to getting married and we should but we also need learn to look for Jesus first. The perfect guy we think of that listens to everything we say and wants to do everything with us, is Jesus!

He wants to be with us for eternity. That is why he died! Just know that Jesus loves you so much that he would have died if you were the only person he ever made!

And if you are trying to figure out if you should like a guy, ask yourself 'would he die or get beaten or at the very least stand with you when everyone seems to be laughing at you for being a Christian. If he wouldn't do the very least he wouldn't even come close to the most.

Guys are not perfect but they should love God enough that he wouldn't try to get as close to the line of it being 'bad' as he can. The love for God that the right kind of guy has, is his motivation for doing good and loving you.

If he doesn't have the love of God ,the kind of love that you can do anything and he will still love you, then you need to find the kind of guy that does. It also goes for us too. You can't give away something that you don't have.

I read a saying one time "dance with God and he will let the perfect man cut in." God has someone chosen just for you!

Be encouraged today that the right guy is coming but the time will go faster if you get your eyes on Jesus and don't forget to use your time wisely.

Someday you will be married and look back on the time you sat all day and dreamed about a guy that now would make your stomach turn!

Love Jesus and everything will go better!!

Hey all you girls out there!

For my first post, I just wanted to share that when I was a new teen it was rough.

All I wanted to do was fit in with the 'Pops' (popular girls) and that made it hard. I was just chasing them around and trying to play cool and do what they did. But what I know now, since I have stepped back away from all of that, is even though they look confident in them selves, they're not.
They are still the same as they were then but I see now, they are just like me.

What you have to do to be a 'Pop' is care more about what the world thinks of you than God.

God will never change His style. That is shown every time a new baby is born. They have their own nose and their own eyes but over all they look the same, two legs, two arms, one nose, and He loves them.

I chased (still working on not casing) the styles and hair do's and, I'm not saying to go around looking bad but life is much easier when you can lean on God.

The world, when you lean on it, says 'I got you, I won't let you fall' but then it steps to the side and says 'ha! Too slow! You're not keeping up'.

I understand how people can be slow to trust God because they don't want to fall again but God will never let you fall, or knock you down.

You are His child.

We wouldn't do that to our children or people we care about and God wouldn't either.

A good friend will never like you just because of what you wear or the new shoes you just bought, a good friend will love you for who you are. And let me tell you that I have worn some crazy things and my friends never cared, but the 'Pops' only liked me when I wore what they thought was cool.

Just know that God will always love you even if your height, size, hair color or texture is unique to you, He made you that way! He looks at you and says 'beautiful' even if you, your 'friends', or your boyfriend says otherwise.

When we get to heaven we will spend eternity worshiping God not anyone else.

Galatians 1:10
Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.

We will be here for you too. Send prayer requests to my sis and know they will always be prayed for and we will give advice if you need it!

  1. I think it's wise to realize how insignificant "fitting in" and even "vain-fashion" can be. I know women who are in their "Golden Years," still trying to be young. They are still trying to please the world...and they will never be happy..but God fulfills what we can't understand...when we think we're nothing...He is enough!
Thanks for encouraging, not just teens, but all of us to keep our eyes on Him and Him alone!
